Consultancy Services for Groundwater Resources Assessment for Managed Aquifer Recharge and Determination of Radon-222 Concentration Within the Nairobi Aquifer System (Rcgw/Mar-N/Rfp/01/2024-2025)
The purpose of this study is to undertake a feasibility study for Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) and determination of Radon-222 concentration in the Nairobi Aquifer System (NAS).
Specific Ovjectives
The feasibility study is purposed to cover the following objectives;
- Undertake an environmental and social impact baseline survey
- Delineate the extent of the NAS and the catchment that recharges it
- Identify, map and estimate the infiltration potential of recharge zones
- Identify, quantify and assess the quality of water from the potential water sources available for the implementation of MAR
- Determine suitable MAR methods and design the appropriate infrastructure for the implementation of MAR within NAS
- Establish suitable observation wells and appropriate water level monitoring systems to monitor the implementation of MAR within NAS
- Develop an economic business model for MAR implementation
- Collect and analyze samples for Radon 222 concentration and distribution within NAS and develop a Radon groundwater distribution map
- Generate a database for collected data and results sharing
- Undertake an environmental and social impact baseline survey
