The Nairobi Sewerage Improvement Project phase II (NaRSIP II) is part of the larger Nairobi Rivers Basin Rehabilitation and Restoration Program, – which aims to enhance sustainable management of the Nairobi Rivers that support natural ecosystems regeneration, socio-economic activities and improved livelihoods.
The main objective of the current project is to monitor the impact of NARSIP II on the water quality of Nairobi Rivers.
Specific Objectives
As per the terms of reference, an assessment of the aquifers within the project area was also undertaken to establish ground water occurrence, storage, movement, quantity and quality. This report covers the period April 2023 to May 2024 with emphasis on the spatial-temporal variances in groundwater quality within the project area.
The overall objective of this study was to undertake a baseline survey of aquatic biodiversity of the proposed Nairobi river basin project area to monitor the impact of NARSIP II on the water quality of Nairobi Rivers. The ecological data was collected in the rivers using stream reaches and transects established in 70 sampling points in selected sites in the Nairobi river basin project area in Nairobi, Kiambu and Kajiado counties to monitor the impact of Nairobi Sewerage Improvement Project Phase II (NARSIP II) on the water quality of Nairobi Rivers.
